The E4D project seeks to promote employment creation, raise income and improve the working condition of farmers, especially youth and women. Under the E4D project, GIZ has partnered with Fruitland Limited and Newmont Ghana Gold Limited to implement Fruittiland Farmer Service Centre (FFSC) and Asutifi Processing Service Centre (APSC) projects. JMK was engaged by GIZ to conduct an end-of-project evaluation to establish the change in the key outcome or impact areas and the change levers such as yield, value addition, and the level of income outlined in the project’s theory of change.

KEY OUTPUTS AT-A-GLANCE

In undertaking this assignment, JMK:

a) Reviewed the baseline data collection tools, including questionnaires and interview guide.

b) Designed the CAPI and loaded the electronic data collection form on the SurveyCTO configured tablets.

c) Recruited, trained, and managed a team of 10 interviewers and 2 supervisors with appropriate quantitative and qualitative research experience and skills.

d) Designed and implemented a survey protocol and training curriculum.

e) Collected household data from 509 smallholder citrus fruit and ginger farmers and conducted 40 interviews with officials from key Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) at the national level (Ministry of Food and Agriculture, etc.), and operators of FFSC and APSC, and project implementers.

f) Assessed relevance, effectiveness, design and implementation, among others of the project.

g) Documented the success of the project and lessons learned.

h) Generated the final evaluation report.
