The Bono-Asante Atea (BAAT) project is a follow-up project to a Cashew Development project implemented by ADRA (with support from the European Union) from 1997 to 2007 within the transitional zone. The objective of the BAAT project is to contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 1 (Eradicating poverty in all its forms) and 8 (Promoting sustained economic growth, full and productive employment for all) in the Brong Ahafo and Ashanti regions of Ghana by 2021. JMK was tasked to collect farmer household data involving household roaster, poverty index, household income, household assets, food production, cashew production and marketing, and climate change adaptations to populate indicators for the project’s baseline.

KEY OUTPUTS AT-A-GLANCE

In undertaking this assignment, JMK:

a) Conducted desk review of the project

b) Designed the baseline data collection tools, including questionnaires and interview guides.

c) Set up an electronic data capture system using SurveyCTO, which allows the use of android smartphones to collect and transmit data electronically to the data server.

d) Collected quantitative data from 2,500 farmer households across 5 MMDAs in the 3 regions.

e) Conducted 30 qualitative interviews with officials from cashew value chain actors.

f) Produced a baseline survey report.
