KEY OUTPUTS AT-A-GLANCE
In executing the assignment, JMK:
a) Designed questionnaire covering household roaster, data on children aged 5-17, work activities of children, caregiving arrangement, working hours of children, injuries and illness related to children’s work, exposure to environmental hazards and other dangers, tools, equipment and machinery used, compensation and expenditures, children education, programming, among others.
b) Designed CAPI for data collection and loaded forms on the ODK configured smartphones.
c) Developed questionnaire manuals to ensure quality data collection.
d) Carried out a listing in 110 project communities before selecting a survey on the basis of which the study sample was drawn.
e) Collected 1,980 household data and interviewed 4,340 children using CAPI to estimate the prevalence of child labour in 4 target districts by sex and by age group (5-14, 15-17), including the percentage of children working, children in child labour, and hazardous child labour (HCL) as well as children at high risk of engaging in child labour; parent’s questionnaire and household questionnaire.
f) Carried out data analysis and presentation of findings with data visualisations, and a formal written narrative baseline and endline reports.
